Where does the money go

net-revenue-angels-in-actionThis graph gives you an idea of the growth in results from the efforts of Angels in Action. During the year 2007 our focus was internal – we set new goals, strengthened partnerships and reorganized to support greater growth in the future. Our results improved (!) as net revenue for the year 2008 bounced back and even increased.

2010 Update

In the past year money raised by Angels in Action has gone to support a study being done to Evaluate a Patient Decision Aid. This decision aid aims at helping women with Recurrent Ovarian cancer explore options about where they want to be cared for when the cancer progresses and they need more care The study involves implementing a new decision aid, with decision support (counseling) and gathering information through interviews with patients and health care professionals. The results will lead to a better understanding of how to use decision tools and ultimately to better support women with recurrent ovarian cancer.

2012 Update:

Team has been working hard to establish a process to approach women at the best appropriate time in their cancer trajectory. This has been most challenging; several women have refused to participate in the study stating they were not ready to discuss this at this time in their care. This challenge is however consistent with the literature related to research in palliative care. To date, five (5) women have consented, received decision support using the tool and have been interviewed post. We therefore are at 50% of our recruitment goal.
